Qarataba Water Supply Project – Design and Implementation (Capacity: 2,000 m³/hour), Diyala Governorate.
Description:
Qarataba District is located approximately 180 km northeast of Baghdad. The district currently has a population of about 61,000 residents. Based on an estimated annual growth rate of 3%, the project is expected to serve approximately 130,000 residents within the next 25 years.
Project Scope:
- Preparation of a comprehensive survey for the main treatment plant (T.P) and the booster station (B.S).
- Detailed surveying of the proposed pipeline routes within Qarataba District, Jabara Subdistrict, and surrounding villages.
- Conducting geotechnical investigations for required sites and transmission pipeline routes, covering 42 investigation points.
- Study and design of pipeline crossings at river and stream intersections.
- Preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.
- Preparation of the economic feasibility study.
- Construction of the main treatment plant on an area of 20 donums, including: administration building, guard building, three residential units for operators, two sedimentation basins, filter building, power building, mechanical treatment building, pumping station (high-lift and transfer pumps), and associated facilities.
- Construction of a booster station located 15 km from Qarataba to supply water to nine villages in the Safij area.
- Installation of transmission pipeline networks using ductile iron pipes with diameters ranging from 400 mm to 250 mm and a total approximate length of 113 km.
- Rehabilitation of the Jabara water plant after supplying treated water through a 400 mm diameter pipeline.
- Operation of the plant will be based on the latest designs and technologies, including implementation of a SCADA control and monitoring system.
